Wow!  Here’s a brilliant opportunity for school groups to have a real Antarctic experience.  The Bookend Trust is a respected educational organisation with a simple plan:

Bookend is a not-for-profit education initiative that seeks to inspire students and their communities with the positive environmental careers they can build, making the world a better place.

Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) hosts school visits at the Australian Antarctic Festival 2016

They have a knack for planning and delivering some very exciting projects in remarkable places and this time, they’ve outdone themselves with a program that provides an in-depth Antarctic experience for some very lucky teachers and students.  The program runs from 22 to 25 November 2018.

Teacher and student places are available for the 2018 Bookend Trust “Antarctic Experience” including a flight over Antarctica in November.

What’s the cost? $2000

What does that include?:

  • Thursday 22nd – Tour of facilities at the Australian Antarctic Division in Kingston, Tasmania and live video link Casey station.
  • Friday 23rd – Tour of the  CSIRO marine research facilities and IMAS (Institute for Marine and Antarctic studies)
  • Saturday 24th – visit the Mawson Huts replica museum and Islands to Ice at Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery
  • Sunday 25th – Flight ex Hobart over South Magnetic pole, Transantarctic Alps and Antarctic research stations with approx. 4hrs viewing time over Antarctica.
