Do Penguins Paint?
Primary school children throughout Tasmania have an opportunity to show their artistic skills by painting 30 cm penguins made from plywood for the inaugural Australian Antarctic Festival being held in Hobart on Sept 8-11. We would like to offer your school an opportunity to be directly involved with the event. You can read more about the festival here: www.antarcticfestival.com.au
The penguins will be displayed in ‘rookeries’ along the Hobart waterfront during the four-day festival, with each participating school having its own display. The name of the school will be clearly displayed at each ‘rookery’. Each school will be supplied with 50 penguins free of charge and prizes will be awarded by the Mawson’s Huts Foundation, the promoter of the Australian Antarctic Festival.
If you would like to participate (and we hope you will), please email firstname.lastname@example.org or ring David Jensen on 0414 333 381 to arrange to collect your penguins, which can be painted any way the children like. The penguins will be available for collection in early June and will need to be back to us no later than August 12, 2016.
Among the ‘rookeries’ we will also display 20 x one metre tall penguins made from fiberglass, painted by twenty different Tasmanian professional artists. Please do not hesitate to call me if you would like any further details.
Kind regards, and I hope your school can participate.
